Sophia Baginskis

Resolution: “To take more pictures.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Sophia: “Yes, I have been able to keep up with it. I am taking a lot of pictures. I choose this resolution because I used to take pictures, but since I have been in quarantine I hadn’t been finding as many moments to take pictures.”

Kellyn Scheel

Resolution(s): “To go outside more and drink more water.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Kellyn: “Yes. I’ve been trying to workout outside instead of inside and it’s been so much better. I’ve also been doing more activities outside and overall I just feel better.”

Leslie Aboytes

Resolution(s): “This year, I want to spend more time outdoors with friends and exercise as often as possible.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Leslie: “Yes! Although it can be a little challenging to keep up with them for many reasons, I have tried to make them a priority.”

Emma Joing

Resolution: “I didn’t make any huge resolutions, but I made a playlist where I add a new song every day.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Emma: “I have been keeping up with it because it is such a small commitment. I have been able to continue adding songs to the playlist and I’m hoping to have a playlist with 365 songs on it by the end of the year!”

Reya Hadaya

Resolution(s): “My New Year’s resolutions are to spend less time on my phone and more time outdoors.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Reya: “It’s been going pretty well. I stopped using instagram and snapchat which means I have a lot more time for more purposeful and meaningful things like going on hikes or hanging out with friends.”

Colleen Wang

Resolution(s): None.

Why did you not make any resolutions?

Colleen: “If I have no resolutions, I have no reason to disappoint myself.”

Dunya Mostaghimi

Resolution(s): “One of my New Year’s resolutions was to improve my Turkish reading skills. Because I watch many Turkish shows, I picked up many basic phrases but learning how to read interested me too so I wanted to be able to practice every day on DuoLingo.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Dunya: “Keeping up with my goal has been hard because some days I feel too busy to spend time on it and other days I just feel uninterested. To motivate myself, I have set a less strict goal than practicing every day and have promised myself not to watch any new Turkish shows until I have leveled up on the app.”

Libby Spier

Resolution: “To be happy!”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Libby: “No because we are in a pandemic and college decisions are coming back. Kind of a depressing time so it is hard to be happy. It probably wasn’t very practical.”

Samantha Lee

Resolution: “Going outside for at least 15 minutes everyday.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Samantha: “I go outside everyday, but sometimes it’s for a little less. It has been really nice especially since I love cold weather and I get to walk my dogs.”

Rachael Vonderhaar

Resolution: “I don’t really have a New Year’s resolution, but this year I’m hoping to stay flexible for what’s to come.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Rachael: “Yes? I think?”

Eunice Cho

Resolution(s): “To spend more quality time with my family. To be more active and go outside every day!”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Eunice: “I have been able to spend more time with my family, and I have enjoyed it a lot. We got to cook a lot together. I have not been able to go outside a lot – too lazy.”

Bridget Packer

Resolution: “Get outside more.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Bridget: “I have been going on a lot more walks, and a ton of beach trips.”

Atticus Scherer

Resolution(s): “To dance more and go to more dance classes. Also, to do more art and creative stuff because that is fun.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Atticus: “Kinda. I can only bring myself to go to tap class because tap is so much fun I love it, it brings so good feelings. I have been drawing a lot more. Is it good? Maybe, I don’t know. I’m not an artist. I am only the greatest artist I have ever seen. If I put my art on Etsy, all the lesbians would flock to my store.”

Kimi Lillios

Resolution: “Make sleep a priority and going outside more.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Kimi: “My sleep schedule was pretty irregular during college app season, but it has gotten better now. Another driving goal I have this year is to just do a few things every day. Whether it is cleaning my room, reading a book, doing art or going outside, I want to stay on top of the little things more frequently.”

Megha Madhabhushi

Resolution(s): “To be more organized and on top of things.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Megha: “Yea, I have this whole journal/notebook thing for assignments, tests, etc.”

Emma Turnbull

Resolution(s): “To read more, to walk my dogs more, and to try painting!”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Emma: “I’ve been keeping up with them when I can, but it’s a little difficult with schoolwork taking up so much of my time.”

Julia Ragno

Resolution(s): “My new year’s resolution was to get out and surf more.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Julia: “Yes and no. My weekends have become more busy but during January I was able to get out at least every weekend which was super nice.”

Rachel Ellisen

Resolution(s): “One of my New Year’s resolutions is improving my skiing skills and try to go up as much as I can this season.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Rachel: “Yes, it has been so fun and such a good season. The snow has been amazing and its such a nice getaway from online school.”

Audrey Guo

Resolution(s): “Over dinner in January, my family and I decided to go over New Year’s resolutions. I was painting a skateboard at the time, so I just said I wanted to finish painting it. I have no clue how to skateboard, so I thought painting it would be a little motivating (like how people buy workout clothes to start working out).”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Audrey: “So far it’s not done, but I’m making slow progress. School is always in the way, so painting for fun is just not a priority right now.”

Brooke Glasson

Resolution(s): “My New Year’s resolution was to overall make healthier choices. Not just in the sense of food and exercise, but in relationships and making choices that will benefit me in one way or another. Overall, not just simply existing and trying to do things that will positively impact my future.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Brooke: “It is not something I can really change over night, so yes and no. I have definitely been working at it over the last month, but there have been times where I gave myself some slack which is totally okay!”

Faith Chow

Resolution(s): “Spending more time to work on myself and my happiness. That could be like journalling, affirmations, pilates, running, and reading beneficial books.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Faith: “It has been on and off but for the most part I’ve been able to keep it up. I’ve just been trying to keep a happier and positive mindset, which is my overall goal.”

Alexa Gwyn

Resolution(s): “My 2021 New Year’s resolutions were as follows: Eat foods that make me feel like dancing and nourish my digestive system. Learn to cook good food without onions and garlic. Set a goal and follow through with it (play to my strengths as an organizer). Build self-efficacy!”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Alexa: “It’s been a slow roll but yes I think I have. My mom has been helping me find foods that make my body feel energetic and at dinner time we cook with no onions and garlic (for reference my body does not like/nor properly digest onion and garlic which is so sad). I am learning to cook slowly but I have very little time. On my goal setting, it’s been going really well. I have been telling myself I will do a project and I actually end up completing it which is so amazing to see. The self-efficacy is something I’ve been working on for a while and I think as I gear up to head off to college, things are becoming easier.”

Caitlyn Oda

Resolution(s): “My New Year’s resolution is try to get outside of the house and experience the outdoors!”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Caitlyn: “I recently went to the beach and on a hike with my family. It’s been really relaxing to get some sunshine and just enjoy time away from a screen.”

Emily Cheng

Resolution(s): “Self-discipline (academics, sleep, health, etc), working on creating systems and routines for myself. Opening myself up to more new experiences/life in general.”

Have you been keeping up with your resolution(s)?

Emily: “The self-discipline one isn’t easy, especially since I’ve been struggling with bad sleep habits and procrastination since high school started. But the second one’s been going well—winter break gave me some time to rest and reset my brain, and I’ve just been following my whims and impulses. I’ve been learning some songs on the guitar, I signed up for an astrology class, and I’ve done some online shopping here and there. Sometimes I have solo karaoke sessions, and jamming out to my favorite music has really helped lift my mood. I’m also planning to dabble in more things I’ve been interested in but never fully pursued, like art, graphic design, and web design. It’s really liberating to let myself go and do things just because I feel like doing them in the moment, especially since quarantine has made me feel a lot more sluggish and unmotivated.”
