This recipe is simple, delicious, and just the right amount of gore-y for the upcoming Halloween months. Perfect for parties and get-togethers, these are a staple in this month’s holiday cuisine!

Ingredients:

1 cup salted butter

1 cup powdered sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2.5 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

Pinch of salt

1 cup blanched almonds

3 tablespoons pumpkin puree

Green food coloring (until colored to liking)

Red food coloring

Instructions:

Grease a baking sheet or use parchment paper over a baking sheet, and preheat oven to 350° F.
Beat together butter, sugar, and egg in a bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla extract, flour, pumpkin puree, and baking powder.
Divide dough into tablespoon sized portions, and roll into finger shaped logs.
Place a blanched almond at the tip of one of the sides of the cookie logs, press firmly to ensure almond stays in place while baking.
Use a fork or butterknife to make etches down the finger to resemble wrinkles.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the sides of the cookie are lightly browned.
Paint red food coloring with a toothpick around the fingernail and down the finger. Let cool before serving
