This time of year can be an emotional rollercoaster for many, so we’ve compiled a list of 5 tips for dealing with rejection. We hope these can help take a weight off your shoulders despite all the stress. No matter what news you’re receiving, just know that C Mag has got your back. We know you will all go off to do amazing things and we can’t wait to see it. Good luck!

If these tips don’t apply to your situation, congratulations! However, remember to keep in mind that other people may not be receiving the same good news you did. Don’t be afraid to celebrate, but remain conscious of those around you.

1. Spend time with friends

Surround yourself with the people who make you happy and are there to support you. Your friends are there to cheer you up and be a shoulder to cry on when you need it, so don’t shy away from this resource.

2. Get a sweet treat

This could be as simple as your favorite snack, food or dessert. Enjoying the small things is critical during a time of high stress and sadness, and will help bring up your mood.

3. Allow yourself to be sad

It is okay to be emotional! Rejection can be difficult to overcome–crying, taking a break, or spending time alone are just some of the ways to let go of the situation. Accepting the truth isn’t always easy but allowing yourself to feel instead of deny can help provide closure and make it easier to move on.

4. Redirect your attention

While it can be hard to not focus on what didn’t pan out, there are many other amazing opportunities waiting for you. Set a new goal and redirect your attention to doing the best you can in another area of your life. Shifting your focus will help you move forward and realize that a rejection isn’t everything.

5. Move on

You have given it everything you’ve got and even though it’s hard to accept, there’s nothing more to do. Your rejection is not a measure of your worth or excellence. You will find the place that is right for you. Rejection is redirection!
