Hybrid Art
2 MIN READHow famous art is transformed into intriguing and creative collages using Photoshop
Even those who aren’t familiar with art know of the greats; Da Vinci, Picasso, Van Gogh and many more. It’s hard to pass by one of their art pieces without stopping and staring in aw. But lately, there has been a different form of art that takes these valued artifacts and breaks them down to create a different type of masterpiece all together. Edits and collages that are made through computer design have recently filled the feeds of Pinterest users and continue to wow art lovers. The following photoshop edits were inspired by well know paintings and other collages I found. With these photos, I hope to capture the important aspects of the original paintings while creating a new product that portrays a different meaning and message.
The collage below shows Van Gogh’s incredible Starry Night painting warping an image of an everyday scene in a busy city.
This edit was inspired by the unforgettable moment a sailor, who had just returned from fighting in WWII, embraced a nurse during a victory parade in 1945. I found this picture and then decided to overlap a painting done by Gustav Klimt to keep the same effect this photograph had while still adding art to it.
The final edit conveys the inner thoughts or ideas of Van Gogh. I took some of his sunflower paintings and broke them apart to put inside his face to create a 3D effect.
